After defeating opponent Slate Esports in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Singapore Season 4 (MPL SG Season 4) championship match, the defending champion RSG SG successfully defended their title.

The MPL SG Season 3 winner had a strong season. In the regular season, they had a perfect 7-0 series record and only lost one of their total of 14 games. In the playoffs, they defeated Team SMG 3-0 before defeating Slate Esports, a brand-new team made up of former EVOS SG players, 3-2.

In the grand finals, they encountered Slate Esports a second time. And even though it was a best-of-seven match that came down to the wire once more, RSG SG triumphed and earned a position in the M4 World Championship, which would take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, early the following year.

In the first four games, both sides swapped punches, and going into the fifth game, the score was knotted 2-2. Up until the pivotal Enhanced Lord appeared around the 17-minute mark, the game was back and forth in the early to midgame.

Slate Esports’ Akihiro “JPL” Furusawa’s Jawhead captured Brayden “BRAYYY” Teo’s Balmond with Ejector and hurled him into the Lord pit to get the kill while both teams were trying to locate an opening in the Lord pit.

Slate Esports obtained three more kills and the Enhanced Lord after RSG SG’s jungler was eliminated. Jovan “Babycakes” Heng of RSG SG attempted to defend the base against four but was disregarded as Slate sprinted to the crystal to earn the 3-2 match point.

Thanks to immaculate performances by regular season MVP Bellamy “Lolsie” Yeov on Chou and Babycakes on Melissa, RSG forced a seventh and final game. They stopped Tristan “Gear” Nathanael’s Balmond and Adam “Adammir” Chong’s Edith from scoring any kills throughout the whole game.

Slate attempted to fight RSG’s all-melee lineup of Julian, Chou, and Benedetta in the series’ penultimate game by using Cyclops, the league’s newest hero. At the 10-minute point, RSG SG attempted to capitalize on their early-game advantage and recorded a 6-1 kill score.

The game was so lopsided that Slate was unable to knock down any towers and eventually lost by as much as 11,000 gold. After a clean wipeout in the top lane at the 15-minute point, RSG finally won the championship.

M4 Bound

RSG SG is now one of the teams participating in the upcoming M4 World Championships. The team’s performance against the top teams from other areas would be quite intriguing to watch.

In addition to making their third appearance in the M-series and representing Singapore in the M4 World Championship, RSG SG will also be walking away with the majority of the SG$100,000 prize money.

What do you think of RSG SG’s performance? Do you think they have what it takes to beat other regions and take the M4 trophy?
