The Mobile Legends Professional League Invitational 2022 (MPLI 2022) has come to an end after a dramatic reverse sweep. Indonesia’s ONIC Esports successfully defended its MPLI title (MPLI 2022).

The MPL ID Season 10 champion was one game away from losing everything in the best-of-five championship match when they fell behind 0-2. However, the group persisted and dominated the following three games. They were the first team at MPLI to win back-to-back trophies with the victory.

Gold laner Mohammad “Caderaa” Pambudi helped Geek Fam win games one and two. He led his team to a commanding 2-0 lead with his outstanding 9/2/9 KDA on Bruno in the first game and 2/0/4 KDA on Beatrix in the second.

With no other option but to change things up in the third game, ONIC Esports chose Gusion for Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol to complement the traditional Atlas and Claude pairing. Geek Fam, on the other hand, chooses comfort selections Beatrix and Mathilda.

The wombo combo lineup for ONIC Esports was successful. SamoHt’s Fatal Links ultimate at the 15-minute mark snagged two opponents, allowing Kairi to break down the Geek Fam backline for a triple kill and the series’ first victory.

In the fourth game, Adriand “Drian” Wong locked in a special midlane Akai while Kairi again chose Gusion. Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy of Geek Fam responded to the Gusion selection with Franco.

Fast hands and quick reflexes like Kairi’s made it challenging to stop her. Ten minutes into the game, the regular season MVP was on fire with the assassin hero and had a favorable 7/3/3 KDA.

When Geek Fam attempted to approach the backline in team fights, SamoHT would utilize Hurricane Dance to keep Kairi safe. After obtaining the Enhanced Lord, which they exploited to push into the top lane and force the decider, ONIC began to pull away at the 14-minute mark.

In the decisive game, Geek Fam made the choice to lock in Fanny in order to once more oppose Gusion on the side of ONIC. The yellow hedgehogs chose Moskov to oppose Fanny. The hero was utilized in the competition for the first time at this point.

They made the unexpected choice to place Gusion in the midlane for Drian, and Kairi chose to play Chou in the jungle to counteract Fanny’s early-game edge. The decision was successful since they were able to halt Fanny’s initial jungle incursions.

The early game error didn’t stop Geek Fam from gradually catching up in terms of gold and experience. ONIC Esports was adamant on ending the match, though. 13 minutes into the game, the Enhanced Lord spawned, and they destroyed it right away

The only base turret left for Geek Fam was in the top lane, so ONIC marched there. They dove into the tower to start a team fight, but when SamoHt’s hook on Franco missed, killing Muhammad “Butsss” Sanubari’s Benedetta, they withdrew.

Geek Fam knew it meant it was time to counterattack. Calvin “CW” Winata, on the other hand, was in a solid position in the backline and was able to free-hit all of the Geek Fam members for maximum damage, causing a wipeout and the reverse sweep victory.

Thomas “SamoHt” Obadja’s valiant efforts in the roaming position earned him the title of grand final MVP. The majority of the $100,000 prize fund will go to ONIC Esports.
